Will Smith looks set to join the judging panel of The X Factor in the US, as reports state that Simon Cowell is close to signing the Men In Black star.
Simon reportedly held talks with a number of A-list stars including Mick Jagger and Noel Gallagher, but is said to have settled on Will to sit alongside his favourite Geordie, Cheryl Cole.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Simon thinks Will and Cheryl will be a brilliant formula. He's one of the biggest names in America and considered to be a talented musician as well as actor.”
The fourth slot on the judging panel remains open for a famous female. It’s thought Mariah Carey is Simon’s favourite, though she is due to give birth to twins in the spring.
Nicole Scherzinger is also in the running after she impressed Simon when she filled in for Cheryl and Dannii on the UK series but, according to reports, the Pussycat Dolls singer may replace Cheryl on the ITV show.
Reports also state that Simon is yet to decide if he will return to the UK series, or devote all his time to the US version.
