Will Young To Appear In Stage Version Of Cabaret
Former Pop Idol winner to play Emcee in touring production...
Will Young is to appear in a stage version of the musical Cabaret.
The 33-year-old singer, who won the first series of Pop Idol back in 2002, will play the role of Emcee in the show - which is set in a seedy nightclub in Berlin during the rise to power of the Nazi party.
The Press Association quoted him as saying: "I am very excited about the challenge of choosing Cabaret as my first musical theatre role. The role of the Emcee is a part I have wanted to play since before I started training at Arts Education in Chiswick when I first moved to London.
"I have spent the last 10 years, singing, dancing and acting all separately. For the first time I get to do all three in one show. How could I not be excited."
The production will go on the road to Southampton, Nottingham, Norwich and Salford for three weeks before opening in London on 3 October.
The show is based on the novels of Christopher Isherwood and was most-famously produced as a movie starring Liza Minnelli.
