Will.I.Am Admits Using Autotune On Own Songs
Singer reveals he uses computer effects to improve sound of his voice…
Speaking to Alan Carr on Chatty Man (to be screen this evening), the star said: “I use autotune because I write and produce. A lot of the time I am in the studio by myself and no one works as much as I do.
"So the computer allows me to make music singing myself and not wait around for singers to come and sing it.
“It’s a rare combination to have someone who can write songs and sing well. The computer allows me to execute my ideas at the speed I think them.
“So that’s why I lean to autotune. It’s just an effect. But I am working on, you know, my singing abilities.”
The talent show judge has also been defending audience figures for The Voice, which, according to The Mirror, have halved from more than 10 million viewers to an average 5.6 million since launch.
“I checked Wikipedia once and it said I was one million years old, so you can’t always believe what you read,” he said.
BBC bosses are no doubt hoping that Cheryl Cole and Kylie Minogue, who are booked to appear on Sunday night’s results show, will help boost viewing figures ahead of the final.
An insider told the paper: “One of the coaches is calling in a favour to get a megastar for the end of the series.
“There’s a lot riding on The Voice for the BBC’s top brass and they are determined not to let it fail.”
