REVIEW: The pint-sized R&B smoothie shows off his silky vocals on stage...
After [uuid=0bd3dbe2-3124-439d-8238-71e27bf85461]Miguelto grace the main stage at London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - ahead of headliner, Justin Timberlake and many more A-list artists.
Feeling: Miguel's ecstatic energy with him running up and down the stage got quite a few hearts racing and a lot of wolf whistles. He engaged enormously with the huge crowd and they returned the favour by singing along to his songs.
The Look: Despite the blistering heat, Miguel rocked a black leather jacket with arm tassels, ripped black jeans and aviators to shade out the blazing sun shining on East London. The band continued the edgy theme wearing sleeveless T-shirts - with the lead guitarist wearing a leather waistcoat and black vest. Later in his set, Miguel's leather jacket was proving too much for the London heatwave, as he stripped off to just a black vest and teased the crowd by showing us his sexy six pack! Very Rock 'n' Roll!
Tunes: Miguel rocked the crowd with a mélange of guitar solos and banging beat, which truly got the crowd going. Half way through the set, he had a heart to heart with the crowd, explaining the meaning to All I Want Is You - a tear jerking story of a former relationship made his soulful performance all the better to watch.
He finished the set with a ten minute version of Adorn but just before he started, Miguel tickled our eardrums with the lyrics "Let my love…" making the crowd sing along together as the beautiful harmony of his voice washed over the park.
Special Guests: No special guest were present on stage but Miguel sampled his homeboy Kendrick Lamar's Swimming Pools (Drank) before singing How Many Drinks.
Banter: Just before his performance of Adorn, Miguel spots a fan flashing and says to the crowd "Did you just flash me" he giggles a little and then says: "That was dope". He also had a cheeky smile throughout the performance, showing there's more than meets the eye to this RnB smoothie.
Sweat Factor: Aside from the removing of his leather jacket, Miguel's slow jams got the crowd moving in the scorching sun - really turning turned up the heat in London!
Summary: Miguel along with fellow performer Frank Ocean are bringing R&B back to its roots. His Prince-inspired look and Michael Jackson moves got his fans hooked. The beautiful romanic lyrics from his hits also provided the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of sunshine at the Queen Elizabeth Park.
