Wiz Khalifa has reportedly been arrested after being found with cannabis on him at an airport security check.

The hip-hopper - real name Cameron Thomaz - was apparently preparing to fly from El Paso to Dallas when he was found by a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officer to be carrying the illegal substance and was handed over to local police.

"The TSA Officer learned that Thomaz did not have any identification which led to him being sent for secondary screening," El Paso Chief of Police Gregory K. Allen explained in a statement.

"During that screening the TSA Officer located a metal container inside of the backpack which contained a prohibited item."

However the 26-year-old appeared to have been left with his smartphone while in custody, because he kept his followers on social media site Twitter updated with pictures and comments about his eventful day.

He even took one snap of himself in a cell, writing: "Jail selfie."

And the rapper - who had been planning to drop his 28 Grams mixtape online - had to delay it while his release on bail was arranged.

He wrote: "They're tryna figure out how many grams I had. How ironic."

After his release he boarded a private jet, performed at the Soundset Festival in Minnesota and later released the mixtape for free online.
