Scientists Have Proved Teleportation Is Real (Kinda)

We're not quite in Star Trek country just yet...

We don’t mean to alarm you, but ACTUAL TELEPORTATION IS REAL.

Ish.

Kinda.

We’re not quite at ‘teleport that pizza from Southern Italy into my mouth’, but teams in Canada and China have just broken a record for ‘quantum teleportation’ that hints at very exciting future times for both pizza and our mouths.

The clever-clogs scientists have teleported information from one place to another using fibre optic networks, using a phenomenon called ‘quantum entanglement’ that ensures particles remain connected no matter how far apart they are.

To us laymans/idiots, transmitting electronic data via fibre optic networks sounds an awful lot like something called E-MAIL.

But all the jumping up and down and general excitement from the scientific community assures us this is not the case. Even Einstein wasn’t completely clear on the process, calling it a “spooky action”.

While our dreams of being beamed up by Scotty are still a way away, this is a huge shift forward for encrypting information or sending secure communications.
