Chris Jericho Defends Himself Against CM Punk 'Agenda' Accusations
WWE veteran has shrugged off suggestions he had an "agenda" to ensure CM Punk spilled secrets on the Talk Is Jericho podcast concerning his departure from the company.
Veteran headliner Jericho insisted he has always had a great working relationship with his long-term in-ring foe - describing Punk as one of his favourite opponents of all time - and insisted any details that might have been relayed to him would never have been broadcast.
"Anything that Punk told me, or has told me, or will tell me - or anybody - that will never be public knowledge," he said.
"Like I said, Punk has always been what I consider to be a fairly close friend in the business."
He added: "Nothing but love for Punk. I'm glad he's enjoying his life after wrestling. I personally think he'll be back some day."
Detailing that he believed they were on such good terms Jericho once called on now-retired star Punk to pick him up from jail after a late-night brush with the law, Fozzy front man Chris poured cold water over Punk's claims by joking he may have mistaken the first ever undisputed WWE champ for somebody else .
"I don't think I had an agenda," maintained Jericho, 44.
"I never asked him any wrestling questions via text, hoping that he would respond so I could read them aloud on air and increase my hits on the podcast. So I just wanted to defend myself on that."
He continued: "Maybe he was thinking of a different Chris Jericho. Maybe he was thinking of Patrick Swayze, or Gordon Ramsay or Jon Bon Jovi, which is who I get told I look like all the time.
"I'll take the Bon Jovi, I'll take the Swayze - especially if it's Roadhouse Swayze as he was hot as hell - but Gordon Ramsay is an insult. If you think I look like Gordon Ramsay, I got a big Chris Jericho raspberry for you."
