Daniel Bryan wants Brock Lesnar to WANT to come after the IC title at Summerslam
WWE's bearded genius fancies luring The Beast into coming after him for his new belt...
Daniel Bryan can’t wait to lock up with Brock Lesnar – but the new Intercontinental champ is more concerned with making sure his title gets the respect it deserves.
Asked by MTV whether he fancied reviving his dream clash with The Beast, who he was originally scheduled to face at last year’s Summerslam before being sidelined by injury, D-Bry said: “I would love a match with Brock Lesnar in any situation.
“[To do that] For the Intercontinental championship would be awesome, just in the sense that Brock Lesnar does not fight for Intercontinental championships.
“If we can elevate the Intercontinental championship in six months to the point where Brock Lesnar wants to fight for it at Summerslam, that would mean we’ve done a hell of a job.”
Bryan continued: “That’s the goal. I would consider that a huge success.
“Most of the time Lesnar doesn’t want to be on Raw, doesn’t want to wrestle on pay-per-views and I see a huge upside in him competing for the IC belt.”
The beardy genius also revealed the precedent set by New Japan Pro Wrestling pal Shinsuke Nakamura in headlining a major card with a ‘secondary’ title bout was evidence the same could be done in WWE.
He said: “At this last Tokyo Dome show the IC championship main evented over their heavyweight championship. And that would be my goal.
“I want people to be more excited about what I’m going to do with the Intercontinental title than anything else.”
