New Intercontinental champ Dolph Ziggler has revealed his WWE TLC ladder match triumph came as a result of improved resilience – and a refusal to quit.
Ziggler, 34, hailed his hometown fans at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio for geeing him on in a brutal match that left both Dolph and opponent Luke Harper seeking medical attention.
“As usual, I got the hell beaten out of me and I wouldn’t quit,” Ziggler told WWE.com.
“Luke Harper, someone I’ve only been in the ring with a few times, stole that Intercontinental title from me and he stole it from the WWE Universe.
“So tonight, what I did was what I always do. I don’t set out to steal the show any more, I don’t set out to be cocky – I set out to set the bar in what it means to be the best in this business and tonight I wouldn’t quit. The WWE Universe would not let me quit.
“Harper gave me everything he had – he threw ladders, he beat the living hell out of me.
“And I crawled and scratched and crawled and kept reaching for that title and the WWE Universe was behind me the entire time.”
@EdgeRatedR thanks a lot brother, that means so much. Come on by, We miss you!

Adding that his fourth IC win felt “damned good”, Dolph suffered a cut on his head following a ladder-assisted slingshot through the ropes, treated with skin glue and bandages.
Dethroned champ Harper, also 34, received five staples to the side of the head after the scorching opening contest.
