Ric Flair Remembers Dusty Rhodes: 'Guys Like You And Me, We Live On A Lightning Bolt, Kid'
Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes’ greatest in-ring rival, has lauded his late friend as "the most charismatic, most genuine and real talents in the history of our business” as part of a WWE Network tribute to the American Dream.
"I don’t think I realised how much he meant to me until this happened,” a tearful Ric reflects on ‘Celebrating the Dream’ about the performer whose surname he wanted to take on himself as a rookie, before going on to emphasise just how close the two wrestling icons were.
"It’s like… two guys who had unbelievable chemistry. Two guys who liked to live life and two guys who wouldn’t spare any expense to live it.
"Like he said: ‘Guys like you and me, we live on a lightning bolt, kid.’"
Flair continued: "Nobody was ever like him. I’d like to think I’m better but if I’m being honest with you, I can’t tell you that I was.
"We had a lot of fun. And made a lot of money. And we spent a lot of money. That’ll be on both of our epitaphs.”
A host of WWE and NXT stars, including Triple H, John Cena, Seth Rollins, William Regal, Renee Young, Kevin Owens, Summer Rae and Cesaro also share their memories about the Dream on the documentary which is worth any WWE fan going out of their way to watch.
WWE Hall of Famer Rhodes passed away last week aged 69 following a short illness.
