Cena was attempting to execute a sunset flip powerbomb on rival Kevin Owens - but his opponent seemed to collapse onto the former US champ’s chest and ribs rather than rotating through with Cena’s somersault motion.
According to reports from fans in the Hampton Coliseum arena, the street fight bout was briefly stopped as officials checked on Cena before going on for a few minutes more after the spill.
Medical staff continued to check on Cena after the main event's decision, which saw Owens fall to an Attitude Adjustment through a table.
Despite heading backstage almost immediately after the result, Cena was back in action at the top of the bill on Saturday in Charlottesville and Sunday in Fairfax.
The former 15-time champion commented:
Many times life will hit you hard, knock you down, and hurt you. Persevere, Never Give Up, and do your best get up and keep going #NGU

Owens responded: "That wasn't life. That was me.
