WWE: Could Reign Of Cesaro Be On The Way After Victory Against Rusev?
Swiss superman Cesaro looks to be within reach of Vince McMahon's proverbial brass ring after knocking off Rusev on SmackDown.
The 34-year-old, who has been the standout performer on WWE TV for weeks, became only the second person - after John Cena - to pin the Bulgarian behemoth, giving fans hope he may be positioned more prominently in the near future.
Commenting backstage on his SmackDown victory, set to air in the UK tonight, he said: "We have a saying back in Switzerland - 'talking is silver, silence is gold'. My victory over Rusev tonight speaks for itself."
Cesaro has been one of the most fluid and impressive bone benders in the world for years, but his credible, athletic skills and popularity have come in for a renewed focus recently with excellent performances against the likes of Cena, Kevin Owens and Rusev.
Previous to this current singles run, Cesaro's outstanding tag team partnership with Tyson Kidd was cut short by Kidd being sidelined with a neck injury.
As per Cesaro's hashtag catchphrase, he is a man that can be counted on to #Deliver. So will WWE gift him a higher spot on the roster?
Maybe he could continue to challenge for the US championship, having taken both the current champ and his Battleground contender to the limit, and having knocked off former titleholder Rusev?
