WWE: Justin Bieber 'was in talks to wrestle with John Cena at Summerslam'

Justin Bieber was keen on tagging up with John Cena and stepping into a WWE ring last year, a former WWE writer has claimed.
The teen heartthrob, 21, was apparently interested in slipping into some spandex and teaming with Cena and Big Show to take on the Wyatt Family in a six-man tag match at Summerslam – and although the celebrity collaboration failed to materialise, initial storyline plans are said to have been sketched out.
However, according to Kevin Eck, there were some reservations backstage about using Biebs alongside then-WWE World Heavyweight champ and family favourite Cena.
He explained in his blog: “My concern at the time was that Cena teaming up with Bieber — who was making headlines for all the wrong reasons and most definitely would have been booed unmercifully by the WWE audience — would not have done Cena, the face of the company, any favors.
“To address that concern, the creative suggestion was that Cena would become increasingly annoyed by Bieber in the weeks leading up to the match, but Big Show, who would be portrayed as Bieber’s friend, would repeatedly play peacemaker.
“After the babyfaces went over in the match, Bieber would be so obnoxious in trying to take credit for the win that Cena would hit the Attitude Adjustment on him for a big pop.”
As if that scenario wasn’t fascinating enough, WWE’s alleged concerns about Bieber’s public profile were reportedly allayed by another controversial figure: Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
“Another point that was raised when discussing the potential match was whether it would have been a bad PR move for WWE to do business with Bieber,” Eck continued.
“The feeling from the powers that be was that if Mayweather liked him, then Bieber must be OK.”
