Pras’ Won’t Support Wyclef’s Presidential Bid
The Fugee isn’t supporting his bandmate…
Wyclef Jean’s campaign to be President of Haiti has been criticised by his ex- Fugees bandmate Pras Michel.
The rapper has come out in support of another candidate for the big job, despite his long running friendship with Wyclef.
Pras wrote on Twitter: “I'm here in the belly of Haiti, I endorse Michel Martelly as the next president of Haiti. I want to make it unequivocally clear I love Wyclef to def but he's not [qualified] to be the leader of the new Haiti.
“Wyclef's patriotism for Haiti is unwavering but (he) still isn't suited to prez of new Haiti!”
Actor Sean Penn has also criticised Wyclef’s bid to lead the poverty-stricken country.
The star- who lives in Haiti- told CNN: “I want to see someone who is really, really willing to sacrifice for their country and not just someone who I personally saw with a vulgar entourage of vehicles.”
The election takes place in late November but Wyclef will first have to pass tests checking he is eligible to stand.
