Wyclef Jean To Appeal Haiti Ruling

He still wants to stand for president…

Wyclef Jean looks set to appeal the ruling that stops him from running to be President of Haiti.

Last week the country’s electoral commission said the star was not allowed to stand because he had not lived there for the past five years.
But the former frontman with The Fugees says he won’t give up in his bid to become Haiti’s leader.
He argues that because he was a ‘roving ambassador’ for the island that he should be exempt from the 5 year rule.
Wyclef wrote on Twitter: “Tomorrow our lawyers are appealing the decision of the CEP. We have met all the requirements set by the laws. And the law must be respected.”
Earlier this month Jean’s former bandmate Pras said that he would support another candidate. He wrote: "Wyclef's patriotism for Haiti is unwavering but (he) still isn't suited to prez of new Haiti!”
