Dermot O'Leary Has A Pretty Drastic Idea On How To Save The X Factor

How about no?

When it comes to our Saturday nights between the months of September and December, they pretty much revolve around 'The X Factor' and ONLY 'The X Factor'.

We’re really sociable like that.

But after the show’s 2015 final got its lowest ratings ever, people are starting to wonder how long it is for this world – even Dermot O’Leary reckons we need a break from it all.

The former host was chatting to the Radio Times when he offered up some advice for Simon Cowell, and even compared the harsh-ness of 'TheX Factor' to its ‘warm’ rival 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

He explained: “If I was Simon, I'd take it off air for a year. I'd rest it, then I'd get back to the rooms.

“For me it was always room, arena, boot camp. Also I was really uncomfortable about the Six-Chair Challenge.

“I don’t think it’s a particularly nice bit of television. One of the reasons people like 'Strictly' is because it is a very warm show, and I think you’ve got to keep that in mind.”

Well, while we’re on the subject of changes, how about we get Dermot back on the show too?

Not that we don’t want Caroline Flack and Olly Murs back next year, but maybe he could just become one of the dancers – we all know he’s got the moves.
