Dermot O'Leary Leaves The X Factor - To Be Replaced By Murs And Flack?

Former Xtra Factor duo reportedly lined up to take over the main show...

Dermot O'Leary has announced that he is quitting The X Factor, after eight years presenting the popular ITV talent show.

And The Sun reports that Simon Cowell has already recruited Olly Murs and Caroline Flack to take over hosting duties from the veteran presenter.

A mole told the tabloid: "Simon has secretly met with Olly and Caroline. They're all fully on board. Olly is very much the new Dermot. It's a huge coup because of his music commitments."

And The Mirror quoted a source as saying: "Dermot has known for a while that his card was marked and show bosses had said they were going to be changing the format and looking for different talent.

"He decided to walk before they could officially axe him. Olly is the hot favourite to replace him, nothing has been signed yet but he is the man Simon wants."

But if Dermot was pushed rather than jumping, the 41-year-old star showed his class in his announcement.

He tweeted: "Good afternoon. After eight wonderful years on @TheXFactor it's time for me to move on.

"I'd like to thank ITV, Simon, The X Factor family and particularly the viewers, all of whom have been a big part of my life for so long.

"I'd like to wish the team all the best for the future, especially whoever takes over from me."

It's the end of an era, but if anyone can match Dermot's dad dancing we feel sure it's Olly!
