District 3 Get Boot In Battle Of X Factor Boy Bands
Threesome lose out in the sing-off against Union J...
District 3 have become the latest act to get the boot from this year's The X Factor after losing out in a battle of the boy bands with Union J.
The two groups found themselves in the sing-off after being revealed to have gathered the least votes among the seven remaining acts in the contest.
District 3 performed Bruno Mars' Just The Way You Are for the sing-off, while Union J sang Adele's Set Fire To The Rain.
Louis Walsh - mentor to both groups - refused to choose between them and abstained from the vote.
Gary Barlow was next to vote and declared that District 3 had delivered their "worst vocal performance to date", so opted to save Union J - then Nicole Scherzinger followed suit.
Tulisa had no need to cast her vote, but indicated that she would have opted to save District 3.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor, the D3 boys said they had had a "wicked time" on the show and were "absolutely gutted" to be leaving.
Referring to Union J, member Greg West said: "We wish the boys all the luck in the world."
The six remaining acts in the contest are Jahmene Douglas, Rylan Clark, James Arthur, Ella Henderson, Union J and Christopher Maloney.
