"What has she done? Has she got a body of work that if she criticises you you can really take it on the chin? You kind of go, 'No - your last record didn't even make the Top 20'. You need judges [who] know what they're on about."

He also went on to make a dig at Nicole Scherzinger, stating that fans of the ITV show are more interested in the way Scherzy looks, instead of her judging skills.

Fox admitted: "I think Nicole had a good year last year, but do I really give a monkeys what she says? I've got to be honest, no. Most people worry about what did she look like that week.

"Gary's musical credibility is amazing but as a judge is he always going to say what he thinks, because he's got to remember he's got another Take That album coming out shortly."

He went on to add that while he believes The X Factor is still "an awesome show", it has become "too much about the judges", claiming the series has "become lost in the money and the bling."

Fox concluded: "X Factor was a great derivative from Pop Idol and it's become a massive show. Personally I think they've become a bit lost in the money and the bling, that's why people aren't watching anymore."

Fox concluded: "Throwing money at it is not the solution... it's an awesome show but there are certainly things they need to address."

Following her X Factor exit, Tulisa was caught up in a drugs sting by The Sun newspaper, and is currently on bail after being arrested for trying to arrange a Class A drug deal.
