Gary Barlow: 'I Nearly Quit The X Factor'

Judge says the pressure pushed him close to breaking last year...

Gary Barlowhas admitted that he nearly quit his job on The X Factor last year due to the pressure he found himself under.
And the Take That star told The Sun that he plans to try to make the experience more "fun" this year.
He said: "I did come close to quitting, yeah. It was hard. When you become part of this machine, you're on something that's moving and you've got to try to stay on board. There's no jumping off.
"There's a lot of pressure - it really is massive. I remember last year - on Sunday nights in particular - if I knew one of them was in the bottom two, I'd feel so nervous.
"And you'd watch this spaceship swirling around knowing that millions of people are watching and it was out of your hands, and you'd just feel sorry for them."
But he claimed his new attitude to the show has been paying off already this series.
"I just want to have more fun this year - and I have done already. I was on tour while we were doing the auditions last year and it was bloody hard work.
"I always felt miserable when I arrived because I was knackered already. But this year I don't feel like I've done anything yet! It's been fun."
In other X Factor news, it has been revealed that duo MK1 only just limped into the Judges' Houses stage after Simeon Dixon broke his leg.
The hopeful was playing football when an unlucky tumble led to the break, just before they were supposed to fly to Las Vegas.
The Sun reports that it was "touch and go" whether the pair would make it - although they did in the end.

A new twist was yesterday reported to be lined-up for the show, with a [uuid=18151aa0-c8c0-4a3c-a1f7-bb798d8d4585]vote to put a wildcard act[/uuid] into the live shows.
