Hannah: 'Nicole Helped Me Through X Factor Racism'
Hannah Barrett opens up about abuse from reality TV show fans...
Nicole Scherzinger with helping her get through it.
She told The Sun: "I've had a lot of hate — people have been racist to me. They say they hate my music, they tell me that because I am black I can't ever be a singer. Some people are full of so much hate.
"I told Nicole and she was like 'These people are small-minded. They don't know what they are talking about, they just want to pick on someone'."
She also revealed that fans of the show had criticised her for her looks as well as her skin colour.
"I get more upset when people call me ugly than when they say I can't be a star because I'm black.
"I dropped from a size 16 to a size 12 on the show which was to do with stress."
And she also said she was speaking out to let the public know that racism is still alive and well in 21st century Britain.
"People think that racism has died down from what it was like in the Fifties because it's not out there as much as it was back then when people were going on marches and stuff.
"But there is so much racism still."
Hannah lost the sing-off against Rough Copy on Sunday.
