Jarvis Cocker Takes A Pop At The X Factor
Pulp frontman bemoans lack of artistic creativity in reality show...
Jarvis Cocker has taken a swipe at reality TV show Pulpstar, 48, singled out Louis Walsh for criticism in his comments about the programme, made in an interview with David Bowie. It's not music, is it?
"I don't want to sound like a fuddy-duddy, but to me it's everything I don't agree with. The thing that makes good music is the idea that somebody stumbles upon something or just through their enthusiasm and energy they invent something by accident.
"That's where great music has come from. Probably all great art, if we're honest."
He explained that he was horrified by the idea of "experts" telling youngsters how to be pop stars.
"Also look at the level of these experts," he continued. "In a world where Louis Walsh can be considered an expert, something's wrong. I hate that because it makes kids think that there's a proper way to be a popstar, like there's a formula. And it's crap."
The Voice judge Will.I.Am was the last pop star to have a go at The X Factor.
