Paul Akister On XF Deadlock: 'If I Was A Judge, I'd Say Who Was Better'
This week's X Factor casualty talks Louis Walsh, who he's tipping for glory and who he thinks is in trouble this week! Find out more here...
Mel B's boy lost out to Jay James in the sing-off, with his version of Emeli Sande's Clown not enough to convince Walsh to put him through to next week's show, therefore taking the result to the public vote.
Seeing as Walsh has a history of crushing Paul's dreams (he failed to take him through to Judges' Houses last year), Akister told MTV.co.uk that despite thinking Louis should have picked between himself and Jay, the Irish music mogul is still worthy of his place on panel.
When asked if he agreed with Mel's comment that Louis 'wimped out' by taking the vote to Deadlock, Paul stated: "Yeah, if I was on the judging panel, I would say who I thought was better, whether it be me or Jay. Like, make a decision.
"But, if it was actually true that he couldn't decide and that we were both as good as each other, then fair enough, but I just think he should have said either way."
Speaking of the criticism Walsh faced after making his decision, Akister went on to add that he's still a great judge, explaining: "Because it is a show, the main aim is to make it as exciting as possible and I can see why he took it to deadlock, but I think X Factor without Louis - it wouldn't be the same."
Paul went on to admit there are no hard feelings between himself and Louis, concluding: "No, honestly, I do think he's quite funny. At the time, it bothered me but now, I've got on with it."
As for his prediction on who will take this year's X Factor crown, Paul said: "I think Andrea (Faustini) is going to win. His voice is ridiculous and he's a really nice guy - you can't deny that voice."
With Big Band Week just around the corner, the singer stated he believes Walsh's group Only The Young may get the chop, explaining: "I think they're amazing, every song that they do and they've got a quirky style but I think they will be in trouble this week, I just think the theme doesn't suit them."
MTV then voiced our fears over this year's 'joke act' Stevi Ritchie, with Paul keen to show his support for the cheeky chap from Colchester.
"He's amazing", Akister chuckled. "If he was to be gone out of the house, the mood would be really bad - I don't they anyone would talk to each other.
"He is so funny, literally, what you see on TV is what he's like."
Are Only The Young set to be the next act to get the chop? Make sure you tune into X Factor this weekend on ITV to find out if Paul was right!
