Winner's single reportedly set to raise money for good cause instead...
The traditional festive charity single by The X Factor finalists has reportedly been scrapped by Simon Cowell this year.
Since 2008 the group single has reached No 1 in the Official UK Singles Chart every year, but now show supremo SiCo is claimed to be pulling the plug - and it is thought that the winner's single will be for charity instead.
A source told The Sun: "We do a charity record every year but the current thinking is we should just make that the winner's single.
"It would make loads of cash for charity and it will bring festive cheer back to the Christmas No 1.
"Obviously there are people who would like to give Simon a bloody nose. Well, this way all they'll be doing is starving a charity of cash if they campaign against it. Nothing has been decided for definite but everyone is very keen on the idea."
Last year the winners Little Mix were beaten to the No 1 spot by Military Wives - and there has already been talk of a Hillsborough fundraising single featuring Robbie Williams and other stars this Christmas.
But a representative for the show told Digital Spy: "No decision has been made about charity single at the moment."
In other SiCo news, the TV mogul is reportedly pressing hisBritney Spears to perform on The X Factor USA.
The official Twitter account for the show quotes him as saying: "I'm gonna push for her to do something on the final. I think she'll probably do it."
And Cowell also praises Britters as "a very good judge" and says he hopes she'll do well in the live shows - which are about to start.
He says: "I think she wants to prove to everyone that she's capable of doing her job."
