Simon Cowell's Dream X Factor Line-Up Revealed
The embarrassing nugget of info comes from Cowell's biographer Tom Bower, who had been adding extra tidbits to the paperback version of his book The Intimate Life Of Simon Cowell.
"His ideal line-up this year probably would have been Cheryl and Dannii with Gary and Louis," the author told Heat magazine.
"He would have very much liked Dannii there – he thinks that would have brought in a lot more viewers and it would have been a better show."
And Bower also claimed that the main man would be making a return to the UK version of the show for the final.
"There's no doubt he thinks he'll come back for the final," he said. "The role that he’ll play will become clearer in a few weeks."
A new chapter in the book also claims that SiCo was annoyed by Gary Barlow's OBE - seeing the Take That star as a potential future rival.
The book reads: "The announcement that Barlow would receive an OBE for arranging the event added to his irritation. 'He chased that madly to get three initials after his name'.
"The ambitions of Barlow, he believed, were comical. Ever since Barlow had clawed his way back after a disastrous attempt to become a solo star, Cowell was niggled by his conviction that Barlow was bidding to establish a rival entertainment empire and, like Paul McCartney, secure a knighthood."
We told you this morning how Tammy Cartwright had quit the show to help her brother with a drugs problem.
