Tammy Quits X Factor Over Brother's Drug Problem
Contestant says she was panicking about wayward sibling...
The X Factor contestant Tammy Cartwright has revealed that she has left the talent show in order to look after her brother.
The support worker has told Digital Spy that she has dropped out of the contest after panicking about her sibling and feeling she wasn't putting enough effort in.
Tammy explained: "He takes up a lot of my time, mentally. I'm just constantly worried about him... [at Boot Camp] he had a lapse and I just started panicking.
"For me to continue and be happy enough to continue, he would have to have been clean. [My brother is] like my child... I'm the only person that can control him and I'm the only person who can get through to him.
"And in a way me walking off that show wasn't just because my brother's on drugs, it wasn't about that. It was me panicking about everything, [like] not being in control of the competition... which made it really difficult for me to focus."
But she said she'd like to return next year and put "a bit more effort" into her audition.
Tammy had impressed the judges with her version of Jennifer Hudson's One Night Only.
Meanwhile homeless contestant Robbie Hance has had his criminal past reported in The Sun newspaper, with a former housemate telling how he stole a laptop and cash from the house of a woman who had been putting him up.
Mischke Weinreb told the paper: "He may be a talented musician but the truth is he is also a thief.
"It just isn't on that he is getting so much praise when he has a criminal past. People should know what he has done and be wary."
Robbie was given a police caution for the offence in 2009 - and was also reported to have been fined £400 for criminal damage in the same year.
We told you yesterday how Labrinth has apparently said he is being forced to appear on the show.
