The X Factor: Final 12 Revealed

The final 12 contestants in Tulisa, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow forced to cut half of them tonight.

Girls' mentor Tulisa was the first to be shown making her selections - and chose to take Jade Ellis, Ella Henderson and Lucy Spraggan to the Live Shows.

Next up was Louis Walsh - looking after the groups - and he picked GMD3, MK1 and Union J.

Nicole Scherzinger made the most controversial decision of the night when she decided to go with Rylan Clark and cut Adam Burridge. She also picked Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur from her boys.

And finally it was Gary Barlow's turn to sort out the wheat from the chaff among his over-28s. He selected Melanie Masson, Carolynne Poole and Kye Sones.

Then, just as predicted, there was a twist at the end where each of the judges picked one of the rejected acts to go into a "wildcard" vote which will see the most popular act with the public also get a place in the finals.

The candidates are Christopher Maloney (overs), Adam Burridge (boys), Amy Mottram (girls) and Times Red (groups).
