The X Factor: Gary And Geri In Battle Of The Bands
Pair get competitive over Take That and the Spice Girls...
But guest judge Geri had plenty to say when girlband The It Girls turned up for an audition.
As Gary began to tell the girls that they weren't up to scratch, Geri butted in saying: "Not everybody in Take That could sing, sorry, I'm just being honest."
Louis stuck up for Gary, responding with: "Hey Geri, not everybody in The Spice Girls could sing."
But Geri - who was ribbed by the other judges - wouldn't let it lie, adding: "Gary, when I first started I could not sing, I can sing now. Two of your members could not sing."
Backstage she went on: "I mean, I know that I'm competitive but he hides it, I'm just more honest about it."
And Geri's competitive streak continued as she was seen telling Gary: "I've had 11 number one singles, and you?"
The Take That man replied: "I honestly couldn't add them up."
In other X Factor news, 34-year-old hopeful Christopher Moloney emerged as a possible new favourite after singing Aretha Franklin's The Rose for his late grandfather.
Praised by all four judges, Gary told the customer services advisor from Liverpool: "You're going to be a star."
We told you yesterday how Gary has secretly enlisted Cheryl Cole to be his guest mentor at the judges' houses phase of the competition.
