Just when we thought the Wild Card slot was a thing of the past on this year's X Factor, it has been announced that Monica Michael will be taking the title and returning to the show.

Unveiled on ITV's official Twitter account this week, the post simply read:

Monica had previously exited the show in the Judges Houses stage of the competition, much to the shock of the audience.

Telling of her excitement, she said: "I’m so hyped to be back as the wildcard. Thank you to all the Judges for believing in me and for the public for supporting me. See you on Saturday night!”

While Rita added: "I couldn't sleep Sunday night thinking about Monica and if I could convince the other judges of giving her a wildcard.

"It's so great that Simon, Cheryl and Grimmy agreed. What a rollercoaster for Monica but sooo glad to have her back. So exciting."
