Union J: 'We're More Maroon 5 Than 1D'
The X Factor boyband play down comparisons to One Direction...
The X Factor hopefuls Union J have played down comparisons between themselves and former contestants One Direction.
Speaking in an interview with Heat magazine, they insisted that they had a different sound.
Jamie 'JJ' Hamblett said: "Um, we're a four-piece, they're a five... No we do different music. We're just different."
And Josh Cuthbert elaborated: "They're very young-poppy. We're a bit like Maroon 5."
Commenting on a suggestion that they might be a threat to One Direction, Josh added: "I'm not sure it's possible to be any bigger than One Direction, but that would be amazing - that would be the dream."
Union J survived the sing-off on Sunday's show in a controversial vote, with most observers agreeing that Jade Ellis had sung better.
They were last week threatened with legal action by a former manager.
