X Factor Christopher Maloney: 'I'm Not A Diva '
Controversial contestant says he was shocked by James Arthur's comments...
Christopher Maloney has expressed surprise that his rival on The X Factor James Arthur referred to him as a "diva".
Speaking to Heat magazine after posing in a T shirt with the word "DIVA" on the front, the controversial singer said he felt he was being victimised.
"People are saying I'm two-faced," he said. "I didn't know he'd said that. I feel like I'm an easy target, to be honest.
"I mean, I'm going on tour with James and I didn't know anything about that. I don't know... That's totally shocked me, that."
And he denied that he had shouted at production staff, saying: "It's more like the other way round!
"You've got 12 people knocking on your door, all telling you you've got to be somewhere. I'm not in a position to speak to anyone in a derogatory manner. I'm grateful to be here."
The Liverpudlian, who recently had his odds of winning slashed by the bookies, also denied that he had been late for rehearsals.
"I'm always at rehearsals and I'm always punctual," he claimed.
"I worked in a call centre job for five years and I have never, ever been late, so why would I now in The X Factor? I just wouldn't do it."
And he was also keen to squash reports that he had been voting for himself.
"I'm not getting an income at The X Factor and I'm missing it," he explained.
"I've been getting demand letters for a loan that I took out and I'm like, 'How can I afford to vote for myself when I can't even afford to pay the bills?' I honestly haven't got the time. Or the credit."
But judge Louis Walsh isn't buying it - and has publicly criticised Maloney again.
Speaking on The X Factor's official website, he said: "Maloney is bland and boring. For some unfathomable reason, the public still like him. He really suits his new nickname; shake and fake.
"Chris can really sing though, I'll give him that."
Meanwhile Gary Barlow has renewed hostilities with Rylan Clark.
Digital Spy quoted the Take That star as saying: "I'm more annoyed Rylan's still here. I said from day one, every week that Rylan's here, a good act will go home and here's the result tonight."
