X Factor Stereo Kicks 'Shouldn't Split' Say Rival Group

Only The Young have defended their rival boy band...

Reports began circulating earlier this week that X Factor boy band Stereo Kicks was set for an overhaul, with mentor Louis Walsh reportedly ready to get rid of two singers from the eight-member group.

Whilst there's been no word of any confirmed departures from the group, some of the show's contestants have been defending the boy band in the wake of the rumours.

In an interview with Digital Spy, Only The Young dismissed the reports that the eight-piece were planning on jettisoning members.

"We're not sure why anyone would think they were splitting!" they said.

"We love Stereo Kicks and every boy brings something different", the girl-boy quartet added.

The four-piece, who are Louis' only other act in the competition alongside Stereo Kicks, say they're placing their trust in the public as one of the remaining groups in the competition.

"This year, the competition is so high and we're always so nervous on results day, but we're just going to keep doing our own thing and hope that the public see that we're something different.

"It's literally a dream come true to be on a show such as The X Factor and we're really grateful to everyone who is voting and keeping us in.

And when asked what it was like to be stood in front of Simon and co. during the live shows, they confirmed it is as scary as it looks.

"The thing that we really respect about the panel is that they're so honest", they said.

"We're scared [of all the judges] in a way because we respect their opinions and want them all to believe in us."

X Factor continues tonight at 8pm, with the 12 remaining acts tackling songs from film soundtracks for movies week.
