X Factor Wildcard Acts Confirmed In First Live Show
Four acts getting a second chance in ITV talent show...
The first of this year's X Factor live shows are over and it turned out the rumours about the wildcards were spot on.
Last night's episode saw Lola Saunders, Stevi Richie, Jack Walton and Overload plucked from the contest's scrapheap by the judges - with Overload getting a name change to "Overload Generation".
And the previously unnamed eight-piece boy band have also been given a moniker at last. They will be known as Stereo Kicks.
The first live performances were largely a hit with fans - and standout routines came from red-hot favourite Andrea Faustini with Earth Song, Lauren Platt with a new take on Happy and Fleur East with current No 1 single All About That Bass.
The groups all put in solid performances - with Blonde Electra turning in a suitably barking rendition of Kim Wilde's 1980s classic Kids In America.
And there was a hint of the old chemistry between Simon Cowell as Cheryl Fernandez-Versini as he hilariously described Lola Saunders as being dressed like "a toilet roll holder" - and then "shushed" Chezza when she tried to interject.
And it was revealed that Jack Walton had backing from a famous fan as he returned to the contest - with SiCo revealing that One Direction's Louis Tomlinson had sent him a text asking why the lad hadn't made the cut at judges' houses.
