The 17-year old singer said in her XF diary: "I felt really bad for Cheryl. It’s not easy to make a decision when it’s two of your girls in the bottom two."

"That’s sort of like, I know it sounds weird, but two of your kids and giving one away. Could you imagine that? It would be weird and you wouldn’t be able to do it."

She continued: "I do feel for her like anybody else out there should feel for her as well. But life has to go on, it’s a competition and people have to go out. "

"It’s getting fierce now and it’s heating up but you have to be prepared to fight your way through it."

Meanwhile, television watchdog Ofcom has stated that no rules were broken when Chezza refused to vote, claiming that the 2,000 plus complaints that were made about the show will not be upheld.

An Ofcom spokesperson confirmed: "Ofcom’s opinion is that the bottom two were decided by the public who knew who they were voting for and what they were paying for and once a pair of contestants are identified, then it is at ITV’s discretion to pick the deciding final voting process.”

The regulator added: “It’s unlikely the complaints will be upheld based on the fact the show didn’t go against the regulator’s rulebook.”
