Microsoft Reveal Xbox One Release Date
New console will be on sale in UK in plenty of time for Christmas...
Microsoft has announced that its eagerly awaited Xbox One console is set to go on sale on 22 November in the UK.
The computing giant will also launch the next-gen device in 12 other countries on the same day: The US, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Brazil, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand.
Executive Yusuf Mehdi said: "This week, Xbox One began full production in our preparation for launch.
"Xbox One pre-orders have sold out at many retailers, putting us on track for the biggest Xbox launch ever, and we've worked hard to ensure an additional supply of Xbox One Day One consoles are now available for pre-order via our retail partners."
And he also revealed that the company's engineers had been amping up the console's power right up to the last moment.
"Our development teams have increased the CPU from 1.6GHZ to 1.75GHZ, roughly a 10 percent increase in CPU performance. This is in addition to the six per cent increase we previously announced for the GPU a few weeks ago. The result is that Xbox One will have that much more power for developers to make their games and entertainment really shine."
The console will be on sale a week before its arch-rival Sony's new PlayStation hits UK stores.
Microsoft dropped a planned restriction on secondhand games.
