Xbox One Launch Takes Over Leicester Square

Iconic location renamed for Microsoft's long-awaited console launch...

It's a location which is famous the world over for its association with movie premieres, but London's Leicester Square was last night re-namedXboxOne Square in honour of Microsoft's new games console.
And the launch event for the eagerly awaited next-gen device saw a level of production quality that even the biggest movie openings would envy.
A giant Xbox icon took centre stage in the square, with the trademark glowing green light emitting from the top.

And the London street signs were replaced for the evening with green-lettered versions reading "Xbox One Square".
The event saw zombies from Dead Rising 3 roaming the streets alongside a Roman legion from Ryse: Son of Rome.

The Stig
from Top Gear drove through the crowds in a McLaren supercar from Forza Motorsport 5 - while there was a musical performance from Plan B.
Premier League footballer Andros Townsend competed against fans on FIFA 14 as part of the two-hour live extravaganza.
And eager gamers queued until midnight to buy the console - as they did in 12 other countries around the globe.
