Next X-Men Movie Could Be Set In Space!
The X-Men's most ICONIC space storyline might be about to happen.
Bryan Singer is in the middle of a publicity binge for his latest mutant dust-up, X-Men: Apocalypse, and the director has been looking ahead to what we can expect from future sequels. The headline news?
X-MEN IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!
Or at least, it’s a possibility…
“Another thing that’s been introduced in the comics is a big alien, interstellar tenant within the X-Men universe that hasn’t been explored,” says Singer. “And to me, that might be kind of fun because I’m a huge Star Wars and Star Trek fan, and exploring the X-Men universe and being able to utilise that would be exciting, visually.”
Could that then lead to another exploration of the Dark Phoenix storyline from the comics? Singer didn’t touch on that in his interview, but any mention of the X-Men in space will naturally get tongues wagging about the comics’ most iconic space-set storyline…
Meanwhile, Patrick Stewart has also been talking X-updates, with the star confirming the heavily rumoured news that Professor Xavier will be making an appearance in the next Wolverine movie.
“Worst kept secret”, said Stewart on his Twitter feed, before adding the hashtags #ProfessorX and #Wolverine3. Looks like he hasn’t folded up the wheelchair for good just yet then…
X-Men: Apocalypse hits UK screens on Wednesday 18 May 2016, with the third Wolverine movie set to land on 2 March 2017.
