X-Men: Apocalypse 'Casts Main Villain'
Oscar Isaac reportedly set to play the baddie of the title...
X-Men: Apocalypse is claimed to have found its chief villain in the form of actor Oscar Isaac.
The Guatemalan-born US star will play the ancient mutant of the film's title, with Variety reporting that he has closed a deal with 20th Century Fox.
Isaac is best-known as the star of the Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis, in which he also played the title role - and he's also got a yet-to-be-announced role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Bryan Singer is directing the next X-Men movie and has told Total Film that fans can expect more mayhem than in previous instalments of the franchise.
"Apocalypse will have more of the mass destruction that X-Men films, to date, have not relied upon," he declared.
"There's definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle."
Set in the 1980s, he also suggested that the movie could feature younger versions of established characters.
"That'll be fun to show the audience," he said. "I call these movies in-between-quels. It's a mind-f**k sometimes in terms of where things fall in the timeline."
The film is set for release in May 2016.
