X-Men: Apocalypse Casts Young Nightcrawler

An 18-year-old Australian has become the latest recruit to the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse.
Kodi Smit-McPhee will be playing a younger version of Nightcrawler, a fuzzy blue-coloured mutant acrobat with the power of teleportation.
Director Bryan Singer shared a snap of the actor on Instagram, writing: "Excited to welcome @kodismitmcphee to the cast of #XmenApocalypse as young #Nightcrawler. @alexvaughanphoto"
Smit-McPhee, who has previously appeared in ParaNorman and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, gushed about the news on Instagram.
He wrote: "I am humbled and honored to be joining this incredible project and to be able to tell the story of the well respected young mutant Nightcrawler.
"Thank you @Bryanjaysinger, and the passionate Xmen fans. @20thcenturyfox #Nightcrawler #XmenApocalypse"
He will form part of a new wave of younger versions of familiar characters, with Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp recently having been cast as Jean Grey, Cyclops and Storm respectively.
Nightcrawler was previously played by Alan Cumming in X2: X-Men United.
