Franchise mastermind reported to be taking over from Matthew Vaughn...
Bryan Singer has been confirmed as director of the next instalment of the X-Men movie franchise.
The American filmmaker, who directed the original X-Men movie, X-Men 2 and the recent X-Men: First Class, is to helm X-Men: Days Of Future Past - which is due for release in 2014.
According to Deadline he will take over from Matthew Vaughn (director of Kick-Ass), who was revealed to have dropped out of the project last week.
The new movie will feature James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence and has been described as "X-Men meets Terminator" by Marvel Studios' comic book guru Mark Millar.
Deadline also claims that Vaughn is close to signing a deal to produce the movie.
The first poster for spin-off movie The Wolverine was released yesterday.
