Matthew Vaughn: 'New X-Men Movie Didn't Excite Me'
Director admits he wasn't feeling the love for another star-studded superhero outing...
Filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has been discussing his decision to pass on helming X-Men: Days Of Future Past.
The Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class director told Empire that he just wasn't in the mood to take on another big-budget, star-studded blockbuster.
He said: "The thing that was exciting about it was bringing all these actors together. What a cast!
"But I've worked with great actors and I just thought, 'I've got to do my own thing'.
"The script was great for X-Men, but I had Secret Service in my head," he continued.
"And this has always been Bryan [Singer]'s machine. It's come full circle."
Vaughn is working on an original project with Kick-Ass writer Mark Millar - while Bryan Singer has taken the reins on the X-Men movie.
