The New Mutants Will Be A Trilogy Of X-Men Horror Movies
Get ready to get freaked out, because the upcoming X-Men movie The New Mutants is set to be a horror trilogy. Here's everything you need to know.
If you’ve watched the first trailer for upcoming X-Men spin-off The New Mutants, you’ll know that the new film is rocking a very different vibe to your average superhero flick. A SCARY AF vibe.
Well, according to director Josh Boone, that’s exactly what he was going for, with plans afoot for The New Mutants to kick-off a trilogy of horror-inspired films.
“Our take was just go examine the horror genre through comic book movies and make each one its own distinct sort of horror film,” explains Boone, “drawing from the big events that we love in the comics.” So assuming all goes well with this first outing, we should be getting two more creepy X-flicks.
“We brought it to Fox as a trilogy of films,” continues the director. “These are all going to be horror movies, and they’re all be their own distinct kind of horror movies. This is certainly the ‘rubber-reality’ supernatural horror movie. The next one will be a completely different kind of horror movie.”
Co-starring Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy and Alice Braga, we’ll find out just how scary Boone has made things when The New Mutants hits our screens on 13 April 2018.
