YuleTube: The Christmas Message According To Our Fave Vloggers
All I Want For Christmas Is You...Tube
Carols, hearth fires, tinsel and Love Actually all mean just one thing – CHRISTMAS IS HERE! But as much as Christmas is a time for presents and stuffing ourselves full of turkey (which we’ve already started doing), it’s also a time for giving, and maybe even a time to think about how we can improve our lives come the new year.
Over Vlogmas many of our fave YouTubers have been driving traffic for Christmas and showing us the warm and fuzzy side of this season’s festivities, but for others Christmas is a bit of a mixed bag.
So if the Queens speech isn’t your cup of tea let’s take a look at what some of our internet faves have to say about Christmas (among other highlights from the year), and if they have any advice for the New Year in our YuleTube Christmas message!
When answering a Q&A sesh, Zoella admitted that if she had to choose, she would prefer the build up to Christmas rather than the day itself.
“The build up to Christmas is just insane, it’s the best thing ever… there are so many exciting things you can do around this time of year!”
It sounds like it’s Zoella that pushes advent in her household. In one of her vlogmas vids she shows us the ‘advent treasure hunt’ calendar that she hand-made for her vlogger boyfriend Alfie Deyes, complete with 24 hidden presents around the house, and her precious pet pug Nala even has a ‘Merry Woofmas’ advent calendar!
Bethany has matched Zoe’s enthusiasm about Xmas in her vlogmas posts this December.
“The holidays are like my favourite time of year! I love Christmas, and I think it’s just… really magical”.
She comments, “One of the best things about the holidays, I think we can all admit, is the food” because “who doesn’t love food?”
“To say I have been excited for Christmas recently would be a little bit of an understatement”. “Christmas to me is just celebrating, having fun, eating really nice food like mince pies, and I just love it so much”.
She admits, “I’m really lucky… it’s a really hard time for loads of people” but “for me Christmas means… happiness, warmth and love”.
Sprinkle of Glitter (Louise Pentland)
Tanya is right - things aren’t always perfect for everyone around this time of year. Although in one vlog, Louise shows us how she makes “quite a lot of effort with Christmas wrapping”, showing us her spectacularly made-up presents, this vlogger’s 2015 Xmas message has not always been flawlessly festive.
“I’ve got a lot of life things happening at the moment which make me sad… so vlogmas day 2 has not shaped up well but it was honest… honestmas instead of vlogmas. I’m sorry if you were looking for a bite-sized chunk of Christmas sparkle… but there are many other days which will be better”.
Louise reminds us that, just because it is Christmas, we don’t have to be 100% happy all the time, because everyone has their off days. We still love you, Louise!
We think Tyler Oakley would approve of Sprinkle of Glitter’s honestmas vlog, as in one he posted earlier this year, he encourages people to open up and be honest about who you are in order to be closer to others.
“If you share your true self, you are opening yourself up to connecting with other people who are maybe going through the same thing”.
Last year, Connor posted a coming out vlog and this December he recapped on how opening up about his true feelings and identity had changed his life for the better. He emphasises how lucky he feels to have had such amazing support from friends and family through the experience.
“It really saddens me that there are people in the world who can’t accept everyone for who they are”.
In the wise words of Jenna on her 29th birthday this year: “I just wanted to reflect… because that’s how you get better as a person. Cos if you don’t ever reflect then you just stay an idiot”.
She advises, “focus on the things that you have and not on the things that you don’t have”, including things like your health or a family that loves you.
And finally, to “always be kind to other people, and you will always get it back”.
Beauty queen Karlie Kloss’s Christmas vlog hit the nail on the head.
“During this time of year life gets really busy and it’s important to stop and think about all the things in your life and all the people that you are most thankful for”.
With that in mind, Merry Christmas, one and all! We hope you and our vloggers have a good one, and we’re looking forward to seeing what they have lined up for us in 2016!
