Zac Efron has been upfront about his issues with substance abuse in recent years, so it's a little surprising to see the movie hunk celebrating his 27th birthday in Europe's sin city of Amsterdam.

However rather than hanging out in smoky coffee shops or X-rated bars, the former High School Musical star appears to have been getting a dose of fresh air and exercise with his reported new GF Sami Miro.

Pictures have surfaced on the pair's Instagram feeds of them smiling together in the city, with bicycles apparently their chosen mode of transport.

"They were acting very much in love, she kept hugging him," a source told E! News. "Their love looked genuine."

While based in LA like Zac, Miro appears to work in fashion or the decorative arts rather than showbiz.

They were also pictured together in Denmark last week, visiting world-famous restaurant Noma in Copenhagen.
