Zac Efronhas dropped out of a remake of Footloose after reportedly deciding against more musical roles.

The studio put out a statement saying the High School Musical star is no longer going to star in the movie.

Stories claim the 21 year old wants more adult parts and to move away from musicals like the HSM franchise and hit Hairspray.

Kenny Ortega- the man behind HSM and Dirty Dancing- is directing the Footloose remake which is expected for release in 2010- though its now unknown who will replace Zac.

Efron’s latest film is comedy 17 Again which is released on April 10 at UK cinemas.
