Zayn Malik Was Beaten To Best-Selling UK Debut Artist Of 2016 By A TV Presenter
In a somewhat unexpected twist, Zayn Malik has missed out on nabbing the spot of best-selling UK debut artist of 2016 and guess who beat him to it? Only TV presenter and former Corrie star Bradley Walsh.
Yep, nan-fave Bradley - who you might know best for his role as presenter of The Chase - was officially our number one new artist last year, beating the former One Direction singer's first solo venture to clinch himself the winning spot.
The presenter turned popstar released debut album Chasing Dreams in October last year and it went on to become one of the most popular records of the year. Shifting 111,650 copies following its release, it sold nearly double the 65,208 copies of Zayn's debut album Mind of Mine.
Zayn isn't the only major artist outsold by Bradley either and the album apparently also sold a whole load more copies than Jack Garratt, Biffy Clyro and Tom Odell.
This may have a little to do with the way different demographics consume music and the fact that many of Zayn's younger fans stream music whereas somewhat older fans, who let's be honest, are probably key in Bradley's fanbase, still consume music traditionally and buy physical copies too.
GOD NAN, WHY DO YOU HAVE TO RUIN EVERYTHING?
Joke. Sort of.
