YouTube's Zoella Was 'Terrified' At The Criticism Aimed Towards Her Novel
We never knew the book-loving crowd could be so hostile...
Youtube lovely Zoella has revealed she was 'terrified' after releasing her début novel.
The reason being was because the 25-year-old vlogger, real name Zoe Sugg, didn't actually write the whole thing herself and some of the negativity was a bit mean.
But honestly, it's not uncommon to have what's known as a ghost writer actually pen and edit a novel without their names appearing anywhere on the cover. That's a privilege reserved for the star - in this case Zoella.
For her first book, Girl Online, Zoe had some major help from Siobhan Curran - a ghost writer who did a lot of work on the book - and is nothing to feel guilty over.
"It was terrifying actually," the Brighton-based star admitted in a recent interview over the backlash.
"One minute I was sitting in my bedroom with my viewers - and then all that!"
Aww, bless her adorable socks.
"It was well known among my viewers that I had an editorial consultant and an editor long before I even began writing the book," she said.
The hate got so bad that poor Zoe had to take a leave of absence from the internet, but we're glad she's back now.
The likeable internet star has almost 10 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, and nearly 4 million Twitter followers.
With her beauty range breaking sales records and having just released Girl Online On Tour, the sequel to her début book, we're sure she's now far too busy to worry about the haters.
