There's no stopping the rise of Mr Ed Sheeran who today has announced that he'll be playing his first ever headline show at Wembley Stadium next year on Friday July 10 2015.

It will be the multimillion-selling artist's first headline show in the UK since his sold out tour here earlier this year and will be his biggest show to date.

On playing Wembley Stadium Sheeran said: “I’ve made no secret recently of my ambition to play Wembley Stadium on my own in front of 80,000 people, so I am absolutely over the moon to be able to announce it’s going to happen next Summer. It’s going to be amazing, I just can’t wait.’’

The show will be part of his 'X' world tour, the album of which was the biggest and fastest-selling album of 2014 and topped the charts in the UK for eight consecutive weeks.

It also gave Ed his first ever UK No.1s with Sing and Thinking Out Loud.

The Don't singer recently joined the all-star line up of Bob Geldof's Band Aid 30 for the 2014 revamp of Do They Know It's Christmas? aiming to raise funds to help battle the Ebola crisis in West Africa.

Tickets for Ed Sheeran at Wembley Stadium are on sale via O2 priority from 9am November 26.
