Get To Know: HRVY
Like a lot of new artists these days,HRVY started out covering songs on YouTube. Unlike a lot of new musicians, he'sracked up hundreds of thousands of views on them, got signed to a major label and is now releasing his own music and his fans are 'loving' it.
The music video for HRVY'ssingle 'Personal' has been watched over 115 million times (and still climbing) and he's just released his brand new single, theSpanish influenced'Hasta Luego' Ft. Malu Trevejowhich hasALL the summer vibes.
We were lucky enough to catch up with the singer to include him as our featured artist this week. Get to know HRVY in our interview below...
1) For those who don’t know about you and your music, tell us a little bit about who you are and where you’re from...
So my name is Harvey :) I’m from the U.K and live in a little village near London. Around a year ago I started releasing my music to the world! And now I’m living my dream travelling around the world meeting fans and making new music.
2) Describe your sound in three words…
Ummmm, dancy if that’s a word, happy and heartfelt.
3) Who inspired you to start a career in music?
YouTube! I watched a lot of cover artists growing up and was inspired by how they made each song their own!
4) Who are your biggest musical influences?
Justin Timberlake! He’s amazing, MJ of course the King of Pop and Craig David.
5) Tell us about the writing and recording process for your new single/album…
So we were staying in an Airbnb on the beach in the U.K in the middle of nowhere! It was raining outside and we wanted to write a song that was summery. So we started playing around with a kind of Spanish vibe and the only Spanish words we knew were hasta luego and te amo, so we wrote the song around the word hasta luego! We got to the second verse and realised we needed a Spanish speaking feature to bring the song to life! So I hit up my friend Malu and got her to record it in Miami and the rest was history :)
6) What can we expect from your live shows?
A lot of singing! A lot of dancing! A lot of jumping and me being out of breath sometimes.Oh and a few acoustic songs!
7) What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
I have two! Hitting over 100 million views on my music video for 'Personal'! And playing at the O2 arena with The Vamps, that was pretty insane!
8) Have you met anyone and been totally starstruck?
Not yet! But I’ll let you know when I do! I’ve always wanted to meet Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars so that’s when I’ll probably be starstruck.
9) What’s on your playlists that people wouldn’t expect?
I love 50’s diner music!!!! I don’t know why but it’s such a cool sound, makes me feel like I’m back in time but in a really happy busy diner in America!
10) When can we see you live?
