Jessie J - 'Sweet Talker' First Listen! She's Back With A Bang!

We give our verdict on Jessie's third studio album and Heartbeats, you're in for a treat...

"Stomp, stomp I've arrived", exclaimed Jessie J back in 2010 when her debut single Do It Like A Dude exploded onto the UK music scene, with the star - real name Jessica Cornish - making a name for herself, whether it be for her eccentric style, incredible voice or infectious pop tracks.

The release of debut album Who You Are and sophomore LP, Alive - which received mixed reviews from critics - then followed, with Jessie herself even acknowledging the fact that her second record failed to emulate the success of her first release and set the charts on fire.

However, if there's one thing you should know about Jessie by now is that she is not one to be underestimated…

After ditching the bleach blonde pixie crop and her seat on The Voice UK, Jessie returned to the studio to do what she does best - making music. And the result? Possibly her most mature sound to date in the form of third LP, Sweet Talker.

Kicking off the campaign with worldwide hit Bang Bang - a collaboration with Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj - it's clear to see that Miss. J is back to her best. And after having a listen to what Sweet Talker has to offer, Heartbeats, we can confirm you're in for a treat.

One thing we love about Jessie is her sassiness and Sweet Talker has this by the bucketload, especially on opening track Ain't Been Done, which gets her album off to a hard-hitting start, reminiscent of her Do It Like A Dude days. This time around, the girl from Essex means business.

2 Chainz collaboration, Burnin' Up - the second single from the LP - sees a more sexy side to Jessie's vocals, with the star even giving Britney Spears a run for her money with plenty of heavy breathing - think Slave 4 U.

De La Soul collaboration Seal Me With A Kiss is also worth a listen, with the song almost having a Mariah Carey vibe - infectious, incredibly catchy and bringing another musical flavour to the record.

Other notable tracks include the raw ballad Get Away - which Jessie revealed to us during the playback is about a toxic relationship - Personaland You Don't Really Know Me, possibly a message to her critics. This is Jessie J laid bare.

While Sweet Talker boasts of many ballads, it's also refreshing to hear Jessie picking up the pace, especially on Strip - which sees her teaming up with Price Tag collaborator Claude Kelly again on the cheeky tune.

[related]Overall, Jessie's third offering sees her going back to basics, while also teaming up with a whole hoard of songwriters (52 in total) to craft her more grown-up, more honest sound.

Her new album proves Jessie isn't afraid to experimentand take aspects of her idols Mariah, Whitney Houston and Lauryn Hill to help perfect her own music.

While there may be less tricks on this LP, one thing is for sure, Jessie remains one of the most talentedsingers in the UK - however, be prepared, this album does have a more US feel.

When asked if she feels anxious putting out the record, the star explained that she's quietly confident and in a better place than Alive, adding she's "good nervous".

And if you were ever in doubt that Miss. J can't reach the dizzy heights of her debut LP and deliver another hit record, the star concluded: "I can f**king do this".

Sweet Talker is due for release in the UK on October 13.
